Visit Florence

Florence (30 km) Some of the greatest artistic treasures in the world are to be found in Florence’s museums, palaces, and churches. Popular and important sites in Florence include the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Uffizi, the Accademia, and the Bargello. The churches of Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce house world-renowned works of art, and Michelangelo’s architectural genius is to be admired in the Church of San Lorenzo’s New Sacristy and the Laurentian Library. Wander the ancient city streets until you reach the Arno River, enjoy the Ponte Vecchio, and cross over to the artisan district in the Oltrarno.

The Pitti Palace houses vast and varied collections of paintings, silver works, and Renaissance costumes dating from the 15th through the 19th centuries. And there’s plenty to see outdoors: spend a day at the Boboli Gardens or climb the hill to Piazzale Michelangelo and the church of San Miniato al Monte for an enchanting view of Florence. The historic center of Florence has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
